Session objective: to be confident and effective playing out from our GK when (a) the opposition give us space in the back third, and (b) when opposition press high to deny space in the back third.

Frame
Play out vs. 1-2 formation.
Explanation
BP: Set up in 2-1 formation to create width in back third. Once GK has released ball, playing 3v3, try to score by dribbling, RWB, passing or receiving in opp. end zone.
BPO: Set up in 2-1 formation to split opposition defenders and overload middle third. Once GK has released the ball, all areas are free. Playing 3v3, try to gain possession and [in 10 seconds or less] score against the GK.
BOTH: 2v1 in back third / 1v2 in middle third = starting positions; once GK has released the ball, it's game on. Note - play must always start & restart with the GK. GKs rotate after every play.
Progression
1. add additional play to middle third for each team | 4v4.
Player Tasks [vs. 1-2]
1. positions to create width in back third
2. positions to create depth in middle third.
3. they're giving us space; spot cues to exploit it quickly and gain advantage in middle third.
4. get ball behind first defender as quickly as possible.

Frame
Play out vs. 2-1.
Player Tasks
1. recognise high press; react by moving to receive short + wide, or bursting forward to receive in middle third.
2. complimentary movement in middle third is key to freeing deepest players.
3. prepare the space you want to receive in.
4. GK look to play beyond first defenders as often as possible.
5. As GK distributes, deepest players must immediately move to support behind and around the ball.

Scenario
Futsal game with an emphasis on effectively playing out from back third versus two different opp. set-ups:
1st half | play out vs. 1-2-1
overloading the middle third & allowing us ball in the back third demands a keen sense of when/where/how to exploit available space.
2nd half = play out vs. 2-2:
marking man-for-man demands movement to lose marker & receive.

Frame
Playing out from GK 2v2 (opp. restricted: 2v1 in each area)
Explanation
BP: 2v1 in first area, advance forward by dribbling, passing or running with the ball (RWB). 2v1 in second area, advance over the end line by dribbling or RWB; complete the attacking move by playing to GK's hands and get into position to repeat the exercise in the opposite direction. Attackers are free to move in any area.
BPO: 1v2 in first area, defend your end line; stop forward progress and block passing lines. If you gain possession, then dribble over end line / complete a pass to your team-mate to trigger a swap of attackers & defenders. Defenders, you are limited to your area.
BOTH: play must always start & restart with a GK playing out; 2v1 in first area. It matters little, if at all, which GK starts.
Progression
1. D1 can recover to support D2.
Player Tasks
1. driven passes are crucial; immediate movement afterwards is vital.
2. position to receive facing forward from GK.
3. drive forward with purpose when space is available.
4. use your team mate as support or decoy: be aware of what the defender is giving you.
5. in support - constantly look to angles, space through positions of width & depth, respectively. Change the picture.
